Aston Martin Ventures Into Android

A designer phone is a luxury that we cannot all afford but, it is surely something that all of us like to gawk at while on the Internet. No matter how expensive or butt-ugly they turn out to be, almost every company wants to dip its feet in this area of technology. Why won’t luxury brands understand that they have no business whatsoever branching into the smartphone world? Yet, every year, we witness a rise in luxury handsets tailored to meet the specifications of elitists around the world. Disgusting but, true.

The latest company that has ventured into the Android arena is Aston Martin. The Aspire is Aston Martin’s Android smartphone for a cool $1300.

The Geeky Gift Of Time

The first thing that will probably come to your mind when you read the title of this post is maybe some boring old story about Time and its value. But, being the King of Laziness & Procrastination, I’d probably be the worst person to tell you that story. Seeing my erratic blog entries would probably give you a rough idea about that.

The topic of this post is watches and the amount of geeky techno-wizardry that goes into making some of the coolest watches that I have ever seen. Watches can be used as a fashion statement by some, a life essential by some and also by someone who just needs to have something on his/her wrist. The watches that I’ll be discussing in this post certainly won’t be appealing to the high and mighty. No Esprit, no Gucci, no Calvin Klein or any such random exotic designer/brand name will be found here. But, what you will find here is- the coolest collection of watches that you can gift to a geek (That was a hint to my best friends for what to get me for my next birthday).

1) Tokyoflash GridLock

The TokyoFlash Gridlock is one of the most simplest and minimalistic watches that I have seen till date. The watch is made of pure aluminium  and has a black and orange theme on the screen. The hours are displayed on the left hand side of the watch by highlighting the squares and the minutes are displayed on the right hand side by highlighting the small squares to depict digits. The watch has a brilliant sophisticated design which can make the wearer stand out in the crowd.

One Smartphone To Rule Them All

The Mobile World Congress was the hub of many mobile companies announcing and releasing their brand new products. Most companies like Samsung and LG had the same old smartphones with the identical specifications. Samsung decided to release many new iterations of their current flagship model. Each one worse than the previous and bound to disappoint users to the utmost and make them bang their heads on the walls with misery. But, the atrocities of low-end Samsung mobile phones is not something that needs to be discussed. Just needs to be experienced. 🙂

While Samsung was busy releasing phones of varying processors and third-grade low-end phones, HTC released the Big Daddy of all smartphones. HTC has reinvented themselves and have gone for a complete makeover. The Taiwanese company has said that they won’t be releasing umpteen phones per year like Samsung and will instead, focus on their flagship models. This way, they can focus on quality and not quantity. The hardware and the image of the company has also gone under the hammer and has come out pretty sexily. HTC has released three new smartphones and has branded them as the ‘One’ series. They are the One S, One X and the One V.

These three HTC devices exude sexiness, style and lose all the extra bullshit that earlier HTC devices had. HTC has decided that these are the phones that they will be selling throughout the year. Let’s hope they don’t go the Samsung way and release an HTC A, HTC B, HTC C and so on and so forth, till everyone just loses interest. (more…)

The ‘Vertu’al Albatross

No, I’m most certainly not referring to the hideously ugly bird, in the title.

What I’m referring to is Nokia’s British subsidiary- Vertu. What’s so shocking is that the Finnish giant never made such a huge hue and cry about its appurtenance. Coz if I were the owner of such a luxurious brand of cell phones, I would be marketing it as much as I market my blog & Twitter handle (See what I did there?). (more…)

Samsung’s ‘Note’worthy Adversary

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it Superman with his underwear inside?

Hell, no. It’s the Samsung Galaxy Note. And, I have been lucky enough to receive a review device from Samsung India! 😀 (more…)
