The first thing that will probably come to your mind when you read the title of this post is maybe some boring old story about Time and its value. But, being the King of Laziness & Procrastination, I’d probably be the worst person to tell you that story. Seeing my erratic blog entries would probably give you a rough idea about that.
The topic of this post is watches and the amount of geeky techno-wizardry that goes into making some of the coolest watches that I have ever seen. Watches can be used as a fashion statement by some, a life essential by some and also by someone who just needs to have something on his/her wrist. The watches that I’ll be discussing in this post certainly won’t be appealing to the high and mighty. No Esprit, no Gucci, no Calvin Klein or any such random exotic designer/brand name will be found here. But, what you will find here is- the coolest collection of watches that you can gift to a geek (That was a hint to my best friends for what to get me for my next birthday).
1) Tokyoflash GridLock
The TokyoFlash Gridlock is one of the most simplest and minimalistic watches that I have seen till date. The watch is made of pure aluminium and has a black and orange theme on the screen. The hours are displayed on the left hand side of the watch by highlighting the squares and the minutes are displayed on the right hand side by highlighting the small squares to depict digits. The watch has a brilliant sophisticated design which can make the wearer stand out in the crowd.
Something big just came out of Mountain View today. It’s a cloud storage service called Google Drive. With every other company releasing cloud storage services, the end user is often confused, suffocated and most likely, when asked about cloud services, has this very expression-
This post is for the people who missed out on the Galaxy Nexus & Ice Cream Sandwich launch. Here’s the full HD video of the launch. Enjoy. 🙂
Today was the launch of one the most historic mobile Operating Systems EVER. And along with that, one of the best Android smartphones, till date. Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and the Galaxy Nexus. The Galaxy Nexus is going to be Google’s flagship phone. I am EXTREMELY excited about this phone! Ice Cream Sandwich is one small step for Google, a giant leap for Android.
The Galaxy Nexus will obviously be running Ice Cream Sandwich. This new OS has a very nice feel to it. It looks crisper and cleaner. Makes me wonder if they’ve taken inspiration from Microsoft’s Windows Phones. Ice Cream Sandwich looks radically new but, an Android enthusiast will feel right at home with it. It looks like Google has married two of their best iterations (Gingerbread & Honeycomb) and this is their baby.
The Galaxy Nexus is the phone to have. It’s the best Android phone in the market,as of now. This device, like all other devices of the Nexus series, is a no-bloatware one. It is absolutely free of all carrier & manufacturer software, which is a major plus point for it.
Google just bought Motorola for $12.5 BILLION! :O
With this massive acquisition, Google has bought approximately 20,000 employees. And, not to forget, about 24,000 patents (everyone knows that Motorola has the patent of the cell phone!)! And, last but not the least, Google has bought an enormous market share which is going to make Steve Jobs pee in his iconic blue jeans.
Since the humble launch of Android in 2003 by Andy Rubin and the acquisition by Google in 2005, Android has not been as strong in the hardware department as it has been in the software department. Google had earlier relied on HTC and Samsung to make the two Nexus phones (Google phones). But, this has all changed with the latest Motorola acquisition. Google has now become the second largest manufacturer of Android handsets! (more…)
