TechQuark Galaxy S4 Giveaway

This is a post written for a giveaway on TechQuark, a superb technology blog I follow.

When my friend Shubham Gupta told me about the giveaway that he is organizing on his blog, my exact reaction was “OMG OMG OMG GALAXY S4”.
Really hope I win this one because using an aged Galaxy S has finally gotten to me. And also because Shubham is such a nice friend! 😛

Windows Phone 8- A World Without Walls

When Microsoft first announced the mere presence of Windows Phone 8 back in June, I was every bit excited back then as I am now. And now, six months later, the OS is out of the door alongside Windows 8 for PCs, tablets, hybrids and whatnot. Windows Phone 8 has been a massive update for the Windows Phone ecosystem. Like its brethren, this update is simply mind-blowing. The main new features of Windows Phone 8 are-

  1. Live apps– Almost everyone is aware of the Live Tiles made famous by Microsoft. These tiles constantly update information from various sources and for various purposes and are an integral part of the Windows Phone experience. Like Live Tiles, Microsoft has now introduced Live Apps. These Live Apps are applications which can be pinned onto the lockscreen of the phone to keep getting updated. Along with the live apps, you can now add any five icons at the bottom of the screen to give you updates on missed calls, messages, Facebook updates etc. There is support for third-party applications, as well. Aston Martin Ventures Into Android

A designer phone is a luxury that we cannot all afford but, it is surely something that all of us like to gawk at while on the Internet. No matter how expensive or butt-ugly they turn out to be, almost every company wants to dip its feet in this area of technology. Why won’t luxury brands understand that they have no business whatsoever branching into the smartphone world? Yet, every year, we witness a rise in luxury handsets tailored to meet the specifications of elitists around the world. Disgusting but, true.

The latest company that has ventured into the Android arena is Aston Martin. The Aspire is Aston Martin’s Android smartphone for a cool $1300.

Apple-One, Samsung-Nil

Pretty much everyone knows about the legal brouhaha happening between Apple and Samsung. Now that the battle has been going on since forever, it was high time that some sort of decision was actually made.

In the wee hours of Friday morning, a federal jury of the United States of America recommended that Apple be rewarded the damages which are due to it from Samsung’s blatant copying in the design of their Galaxy series. The damages are worth a really cool $1.05 billion. That’s the kind of money that makes you stop and remember how many zeroes are used while writing it in figures (There are nine zeroes, just by the way).

The Geeky Gift Of Time

The first thing that will probably come to your mind when you read the title of this post is maybe some boring old story about Time and its value. But, being the King of Laziness & Procrastination, I’d probably be the worst person to tell you that story. Seeing my erratic blog entries would probably give you a rough idea about that.

The topic of this post is watches and the amount of geeky techno-wizardry that goes into making some of the coolest watches that I have ever seen. Watches can be used as a fashion statement by some, a life essential by some and also by someone who just needs to have something on his/her wrist. The watches that I’ll be discussing in this post certainly won’t be appealing to the high and mighty. No Esprit, no Gucci, no Calvin Klein or any such random exotic designer/brand name will be found here. But, what you will find here is- the coolest collection of watches that you can gift to a geek (That was a hint to my best friends for what to get me for my next birthday).

1) Tokyoflash GridLock

The TokyoFlash Gridlock is one of the most simplest and minimalistic watches that I have seen till date. The watch is made of pure aluminium  and has a black and orange theme on the screen. The hours are displayed on the left hand side of the watch by highlighting the squares and the minutes are displayed on the right hand side by highlighting the small squares to depict digits. The watch has a brilliant sophisticated design which can make the wearer stand out in the crowd.
